English schools in Malta offer accommodation to students enrolled in an English course. However, you are in no way forced to book the school’s accommodation.
This accommodation is not so common in Malta as it is in the UK, but some schools do have a residence. You will be able to choose the room type (single, twin, triple) and sometimes the board option (breakfast, half board, full board).
English schools in Malta usually have different apartments, some within walking distance of the school, some a short bus ride away.
You can opt for a single, a twin or a triple room. When booking a single room, you might also have the option to book a private bathroom. You will share the apartment with other students. Please note that in shared self-catering apartments nationality mix is not guaranteed.
Host family is a very good option if you would like to have a full-immersion in the Maltese culture. Maltese people are very open minded and welcoming. They like to host students from all over the world.
However you also need to be very flexible. A host family is not a hotel and, although it is a service you pay for, you will need to adapt to the family habits and not the other way round.
Many schools also offer to book partner hotels or guest houses for you.
However, based on my experience, I strongly recommend that in this case you try to book this kind of accommodation on your own.
It might actually be cheaper to book a hotel on booking.com for example.
